How to rip Audio CD with VLC

"How do I rip an audio CD" is a commonly asked question, and we have many free and commercial software for performing the same. However, in this tutorial, we will be discussing about converting audio cd songs to mp3 using VLC media player.


Setting the quality (this has to be done only once):

• Go to Tools -> Preferences
• On bottom left corner, you can see Show Settings section, click on All
• Navigate to Input/ Codecs -> Audio codecs -> Twolame and set the quality you want.

Starting the process:

• Click on Media -> Convert/ Save
• Click on Disc tab and select Audio CD
• Select the tracks and chapters

Convert Window:

• Here, make sure that you select Audio - MP3 as your profile and no video is selected.
• Once you are comfortable with the settings, click on Start button.
